Gifting for Families: Collecting Toys for Children in Northern Virginia

Help make the holiday season brighter as we distribute more than 2,000 toys to children and their families in Northern Virginia. Whether you donate, volunteer, or organize a toy drive, it can’t happen without you.

1. DONATE FUNDS

Your donation enables us to purchase any additional toys or gift cards needed, as well as grocery store gift cards for our client families to use for holiday meals and basic necessities.

Create your own online team fundraising page for your office or community group! You can track engagement as individuals can make online donations on your organization’s own page and they can even share the fundraising page with their networks for additional support. Financial contributions are greatly appreciated and enable us to ensure that each family’s requests are fulfilled.

PARKING INSTRUCTIONS – Please drive up to the circle in front of the building and park there, noted as the yellow star in the picture. It’s ok for multiple cars to park in the circle. When you enter the building, look for signs leading you to the conference room on the main level. Volunteers will be available to show you to the donation drop-off room and to help unload your car.

 If you are a corporate or civic group and would like to organize a collection drive, please contact Lacy Hurst at LHurst@nvfs.org. 

3. DONATE toys from our amazon wishlist

Purchase some of the yearly favorite toys or gift cards off of our Holiday Giving Amazon Wish List. It’s a fast, easy, and convenient way to spread the seasonal cheer!

Please note, the wish list will close on 12/4/2024. If you need a donation receipt please email lhurst@nvfs.org.

4. DONATE GIFT CARDS

Teen gifts are often the items we need most. Gift cards in suggested multiples of $25 make great gifts for teens. We suggest Target, Walmart, Amazon, and Visa gift cards.

Supermarket gift cards are also gratefully appreciated for our families to use for holiday meal purchases. Giant Foods is recommended.

5. SPONSOR HOLIDAY GIVING WITH NVFS

We would love to partner with you to help bring joy to our neighbors this holiday season. Together, we can alleviate some of the financial stress they experience, allowing them to focus on celebrating and creating memories with their families. Please note, should contributions to the NVFS Holiday Giving program exceed our budgeted need, gifts will be directed to where they are needed most to help children and families living in poverty throughout Northern Virginia.
