Early Head Start is a federally funded community-based program serving low-income expectant mothers and families with infants and toddlers. The goal of Early Head Start programs is to stimulate parent involvement in the development of their children, as well as involvement in program governance and in the community, in order to strengthen families and break the cycle of poverty.
NVFS’ child development centers (Arlington and Georgetown South) offer a high-quality, full day/full year, developmentally appropriate and fun learning environment for qualifying, income-eligible families with children from five weeks to five years of age.
Teachers are the heart of this program. Your skills will direct daily program activities that provide a safe and nurturing environment for young children ages six weeks to five years old. Activities encourage social, emotional, physical and cognitive development in a manner that meets all applicable local, state and federal standards. You will also ensure health and safety of all children.
In addition, this position requires the following:

Energy and creativity with a passion for creating an exciting early learning experience.

Screen each child for possible developmental delays and complete ongoing assessment on each assigned child.

Create a weekly lesson plan using the Creative Curriculum .net for infant and toddlers.

Successful background checks that include Child Protective Services and Criminal history.
- Reliability with attendance.
- English proficiency. Bilingual skills, a plus.
Minimum Education / Professional Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood.

CDA Infant Toddler.
-
One year teaching experience in early childhood environment.
