Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS), a private, non-profit human service organization, has been dedicated to strengthening families since 1924. Serving the Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William areas, Northern Virginia Family Service works to empower individuals and families to improve their quality of life and to promote community cooperation in responding to family needs. Programs of NVFS include child abuse prevention, family and individual counseling, foster care, health access, homelessness prevention, and mentoring services for at-risk youth. 

The HAAT Program offers one-stop shopping for uninsured, low-income Fairfax County residents seeking health care. The teams, located at each of the county’s three outpatient clinics for the uninsured, enroll eligible residents into federal, state or county health care programs. 

The Health Access specialist conducts intake and eligibility screening, referral, application assistance and linkages to providers to low-income, uninsured Fairfax County residents (adults and children) seeking medical and dental services.  Provides outreach presentations to community groups to increase access to services.  Customer service, data collection and reporting, ability to work as part of a team, and excellent written and oral communication skills required. 

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health or human services.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish required. 
  • At least one year of relevant experience required.
  • Customer service oriented with strong follow-through.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to maintain current client documentation.  

This is full-time, benefited position located in Reston.
