NVFS offers a variety of benefits to part time and full time employees. These benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long term disability, flexible spending plan, retirement savings plan, annual and sick leave. Detailed information is available through specific plan documents, copies of which are located in the Human Resources Department. NVFS will share a significant portion of the rates for health, dental and vision insurance for employees working 100%. NVFS’ contribution will be prorated based on the percentage of time worked for employees working less than 100%. All benefits, except for the Agency contribution to the employee’s 401k plan, is effective the first of the month following the date of hire.

Health Care

Three Kaiser Permanente health plan options are offered to suit the needs of employees:  the HMO Signature Plan; the HMO Select Plan; and the Point of Service (POS) plan.

Dental Care

AETNA Dental Insurance: This is a dual option DMO/PPO that provides 100% coverage for preventive care such as cleaning, basic, simple tooth extraction; and major periodontal and endodontic services. 

VisionCare

VSP Vision Insurance: Provides for eye exams every 12 months; lenses every 12 months; and frames every 24 months; each with a $10.00 co-payment.

Life Insurance & ADD

Prudential group life insurance is provided with premiums paid by NVFS.  The benefit is equivalent to 1.5 times the employee’s annual salary to a maximum of $150,000.   In addition, Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage is provided, in the event of an accidental bodily injury, which causes loss of life or limb.

Long-Term Disability

Prudential long-term disability insurance is provided with premiums paid by NVFS.  The benefit pays 60% of an employee’s monthly base salary to a maximum monthly benefit of $5,000, and is payable after a 90 day elimination period.

Short-Term Disability

Prudential short term disability insurance is provided with premiums paid by NVFS.  The benefit pays 50% of an employee’s monthly base salary, (up to $1500 per week), for an approved disability. Benefit is payable after a 14 day elimination period.

Identity Theft

New for 2010! - The benefit provides up to $25,000 coverage with $0 deductible and will cover loss for computer fraud, fund transfers, money order and counterfeit paper currency transactions.  This insurance will cover loss or damage to money, securities, and other property resulting directly from the use of any computer to fraudulently cause a transfer of that property from inside your premises or a banking premises to a person or place outside of those premises.  It will also cover loss of funds resulting from fraudulent instructions directing a financial institution to transfer or pay funds from your transfer account.  Lastly, it will protect against loss caused by your accepting counterfeit currency.

Flexible Spending Account

This plan enables you to have a specified amount of pre-taxed income deducted from your paycheck each pay period. These dollars are set aside in a reimbursement account and subtracted from gross earnings before any taxes are taken out. The funds are to be used to pay for out-of-pocket medical and/or dependent care expenses.

Voluntary Life Insurance

Additional term life insurance is available for purchase from Prudential to a maximum of $500,000, (but not to exceed five times an employee’s annual salary). Voluntary Life Insurance is also available for a spouse and/or children of benefit eligible employees. Additional AD&D coverage is also available to the employee.

401(K) Retirement Plan

All employees over the age of 21, (except those who are non-resident aliens with no U.S. source of income and those who are treated as independent contractors), may opt to have a percent of their compensation up to the maximum amount permitted by law deposited in a 401(k) plan. After one year of employment, NVFS will contribute six percent (6%) of the employee’s salary into the 401(k) plan. The minimum vesting period to receive a portion of NVFS contribution to the 401(k) plan is two years with full vesting after five years. The 401K-contribution limit for 2010 is $16,500; for anyone over age 50, an additional $5,500 can be contributed as “catch-up” contribution (This is subject to change and will be finalized by Nov 2009).
