Start Your Volunteer Journey Today!

NVFS Volunteers have been a vital resource for the Northern Virginia community for nearly 100 years. Because of the meaningful projects our volunteers engage in we are able to extend the supports we offer to more than 35,000 of our neighbors during their journey out of poverty and towards self-sufficiency.

We are grateful for the diversity of our volunteers and strive to offer meaningful, engaging opportunities to contribute to the empowerment of our neighbors and community. We welcome individuals or groups and provide opportunities to make an impact in just a few hours, through short-term projects, or by participating in ongoing, longer-term positions – we even have volunteers who have been with NVFS for over 20 years!

Browse our current opportunities or contact our Community & Volunteer Engagement Specialists who can help match you with a volunteer role that matches your skills, desires, and availability and will help the individuals and families in our community to thrive.

“The staff I’ve worked with at NVFS have been so welcoming and I appreciate that NVFS takes the time to find projects that are a good fit for us. It’s great to be a part of a community that cares for one another; one where we each do our part to give what we have to offer to make things better for others. And, as a volunteer, that’s important to know: NVFS values their volunteers.” Stephanie, NVFS volunteer
