(Oakton, Va., April 21, 2006) Each spring, Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) hosts its annual Road to Independence Gala to celebrate the numerous important achievements of the past year. One of the 2006 Road to Independence Gala’s two featured testimony speakers is a client from the agency’s newest program that assists Hurricane Katrina evacuees living in Northern Virginia. The testimony speakers, who are the highlight of the event, will share their stories of how they overcame challenges on the path to success.
The gala offers a chance to learn more about the work done through a variety of programs for those most in need in our community. The gala also serves to generate support and crucial funds for NVFS programs that encourage, teach and empower individuals and families to improve their lives.
The 2006 Road to Independence Gala will be held at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner on Friday, May 5. General reception begins at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include great networking opportunities, as well as silent and live auctions, dinner and entertainment by the Capitol Steps.
