Always Forward World Premiere

celebrate the joy and resilience of immigrants in our community

Thank you to all who joined us for the world Premiere of Always Forward. This Rising Act Film followed Ninah, a Congolese refugee, and her young daughter, as they navigate the difficult terrain of a new life in the United States.

The film was followed by an inspiring panel conversation with NVFS program participants and staff, led by Margery Sher, a longtime NVFS volunteer and champion, and author of Indomitable! Immigrants’ Stories of Perseverance and Resilience.

About the Film▼

The short film Always Forward follows Ninah and her daughter, refugees who fled to the United States. After immigrating Ninah finds herself without a home, without a job, and paralyzed by the traumas from her past. Filled with doubt, hope, and determination, Ninah leans into the kindness shown to her and discovers she too could be a part of the fabric of everything that makes this country beautiful. After she is introduced to the NVFS Training Futures program, Ninah is set on an upward trajectory toward a life rooted in a new homeland – one where anything is possible.

Ninah’s story is based on the true stories of our Training Futures graduates and NVFS’ Immigrant Resiliency. While each story is different, all our trainees leave on a path of growth and success.
