(Oakton, Va., September 27, 2013) Northern Virginia Family Service, the region’s leader in comprehensive emergency and social services for families, hired two professionals from the corporate sector to join its leadership team this month.
Laurie Tarpey is NVFS’ chief financial officer, and brings more than 15 years of experience leading finance, accounting, human resources and business operations to the agency. Prior to joining NVFS, she was with ENC Strategy, where she started as a consultant, was hired as controller, and was promoted to vice president of finance and served as a member of the executive team. Before joining ENC Strategy, Laurie was the director of finance and human resources for the Vienna-based architectural firm Lobkovich, Inc., and was an audit manager for Price Waterhouse Coopers in Boston. Laurie earned a B.A. in Economics – Accounting from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Jacqueline Dendievel, SPHR, is NVFS’ vice president of human resources. Most recently, Jacqueline was a Senior Human Resource Manager at Leidos (formerly SAIC), part of a team supporting the company’s national security sector. Prior to SAIC she was a Senior Consultant with Helios HR, working with a variety of clients in the nonprofit and for-profit arenas, including healthcare, professional services, technology, higher education and international development. Her career also includes positions with International Data Group (IDG), Georgetown University Medical Center, American University Career Center and Cable Publications, Inc. Jacqueline earned a B.S. in Public Relations from Boston University’s College of Communication and her M.B.A. from the Babson Graduate School of Business in Wellesley, Mass.
Both Laurie and Jacqueline have volunteered for nonprofit organizations. Laurie participated in pro bono work through Compass, where she worked with a board of directors at a DC-based agency on a board assessment and best practices. Jacqueline began her career in arts management and later volunteered for NVFs’ Training Futures program, providing lessons in job preparation for trainees.
