National Expert on Children and Families to Address Northern Virginia Audience

(Oakton, Va., May 21, 2013)  As part of its annual celebration of community and volunteer partners, Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) will present Susan Dreyfus, president and CEO of the Alliance for Children and Families, as its keynote speaker. The annual meeting will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Capital One in McLean.

Dreyfus is a renowned public advocate and civil servant. She was the first Wisconsin Division of Children and Family Services Director and later served as the Washington State Secretary for the Department of Social and Health Services. In addition to her position with The Alliance, she also is president and CEO of the United Neighborhood Centers of America and Ways to Work, which are part of Families International, a parent organization, also headed by Susan.

In addition, Dreyfus is a member of Leadership 18, a coalition of CEOs from the largest and most respected nonprofit organizations in America. She is a board member with FEI Behavioral Health, the American Public Human Services Association and Generations United.

With her leadership, connections to the sector and history of service, Dreyfus is uniquely qualified to share her perspective on the issues and trends affecting nonprofits, along with innovative approaches to solving community problems.

“Susan’s message is guaranteed to be inspirational,” says NVFS President and CEO Mary Agee.  “Out in the field, she sees what’s working. Hearing those case studies of entrepreneurship and best practices will no doubt lead us to reflect on our programs and how we are serving the families of Northern Virginia.”
