(Oakton, VA – November 18, 2015) Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) is providing free Affordable Care Act enrollment assistance and education for eligible individuals in Northern Virginia. Participants will receive help enrolling in a qualified health plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace during 2015 open enrollment from Nov. 1, 2015 to Jan. 31, 2016.
Under the Affordable Care Act, most individuals, adults and children, are required by law to have health coverage, or face paying a fee, or penalty. While there are exceptions, those who do not enroll in coverage by Jan. 31, 2016, face a penalty fee of $695 per person or 2.5% of their taxable income—whichever is higher. The penalty will increase every year.
Open Enrollment 2015 with NVFS
NVFS is scheduling Saturday appointments in Falls Church, Leesburg and Manassas and weekday appointments in Oakton and Manassas. There will be Certified Application Counselors on-site to assist and guide individuals to apply for and select a health plan.

Participants should bring the following to their scheduled appointment: 2014 tax return, certificate of citizenship or other legal immigration documents, social security numbers, employer name and phone number, and an email address that the individual is able to access during the appointment.
