ABOUT US
100+ years of showing up for our neighborsSince 1924, we've stood alongside our neighbors as they navigate challenges and build what comes next.

How it all started
Coal and Coats
In the winter of 1924, a small group of volunteers in Alexandria came together to collect coal and coats for neighbors who couldn’t afford to stay warm. That act of compassion grew into one of the region’s most trusted organizations, now supporting more than 40,000 neighbors every year across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC.
Working hand-in-hand with our communities.
Compassionate, culturally responsive service is at the heart of who we are and how we support our communities.
