Spreading Joy to Our Clients
A huge thank you to Jen Sterling and Let’s Help Kids for the Halloween costumes for the children at the SERVE Family Shelter and Hilda Barg Homeless Prevention Center to make the holiday extra special! The children and their families were able to pick a costume from a costume catalog, and had the costumes in plenty of time before Halloween.
Thank you to the human and dog volunteers of Caring Angels (pictured) who spread joy throughout the SERVE Family Shelter! Shelter guests enjoyed petting and playing with three therapy dogs.
Thank you to Mike Henry for organizing his fourth Music Bridge DMV concert. Shelter guests enjoyed an acoustic guitar, by Chris Fotos, and saxophone, by Will Cano, performance. Mimi Henry brought fall-themed crafts for children to enjoy as both children and adults listened to the music.
Putting Corporate Social Responsibility into Action
Thank you to the team of Symantec volunteers who came to the SERVE Family Shelter during its Global Service Week to share a meal with shelter guests. The shelter guests enjoyed delicious homemade beef stew and also enjoyed the company of the caring volunteers.
Thank you the amazing team at Accenture for all of its hard work on its Impact Day. The SERVE program was happy to have two groups on-site sorting food, bagging rice for families, and getting our shelves organized and ready for Operation Turkey, while another group braved the unseasonable heat to completely reorganize our outdoor storage sheds.
Getting Ready for Winter
Thank you to the Regency Women’s Club of Haymarket for holding a coat and clothing drive. The club collected more than 20 bags of coats, gloves, scarves and hats to get our clients ready for the cooler weather ahead.
Thank you to the volunteers from Accenture and IQ Solutions who helped to organize and sort donations at our Falls Church thrift store — with a special focus on getting holiday merchandise prominently displayed for the season!
