Foster Care & Adoption in Northern Virginia

*NVFS’ Foster Care Program is closed. For more information about foster care and adoption visit 211virginia.org or dial 211.

NVFS Foster Care provided foster families in Northern Virginia and the surrounding areas with the tools and support to build healthy, caring, and therapeutic relationships with children placed in foster care for more than  45 years. As one of the first licensed nonprofit child placement agencies in the region, NVFS is shifting its focusNVFS will no longer recruit, train, and support foster families or act as a child placement agency for children entering the foster care system. We arrived at this decision after years of evaluation, research, and reflection.

The well-being and safety of children and families are our top priority. All children and foster parents in our program have already been referred to similar agencies and nonprofits, to lessen the impact of a transition for the families involved.

Supporting the families that opened their hearts and homes to local youth has been an honor.
