Volunteer Opportunities for Teens & Young People
Our younger volunteers show up every week to sort food donations, stock shelves, and support families in need.
Opportunities by age group
Teens 16 and older can sign up directly for open volunteer shifts at our Hunger Resource Center and Thrift Store, no parent or guardian required.
Opportunities include sorting and packing food donations, stocking shelves, and supporting day-to-day operations at our Thrift Store.
Commitment: Flexible — one-time or recurring shifts available.
Younger children can give back through donation drives and special projects with a parent or guardian.
Past projects have included assembling care kits, organizing donation drives, and making no-sew fleece blankets for families in need.
Commitment: One-time or project-based.
We support youth completing community-centered projects for civic, school, and faith extracurriculars aligned with our mission.
NVFS doesn't offer short-term placements of one month or less. Limited opportunities are available for high school students seeking school year placements as part of their school day.
