With over 25 years of experience in nonprofit finance, including 16 years at NVFS, she serves as Assistant Director of Finance, working closely with the Director of Finance to support the organization’s financial functions. Her responsibilities include grant management and compliance, financial analysis and reporting, assisting with budget development and financial statement preparation, and overseeing payroll and the organization’s 401(k) plan. She also serves as a liaison for the annual audit, coordinating schedules, reconciliations, and audit-related requests. Prior to joining NVFS, Karen worked as an auditor for nonprofit and government contracting organizations.
Karen is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras. She lives in Annandale, Virginia, with her husband, son, and daughter.
