From emergency assistance to long-term stability.
We work with individuals and families facing crisis to support them on their path to permanent housing — from emergency shelter and eviction prevention to rapid re-housing and long-term housing navigation.
All services are accessed through the Prince William County Coordinated Entry System (CES) — the regional system that assesses need and connects families to the right resources based on availability. NVFS cannot accept walk-ins or direct intake requests.
Services are available to residents of Prince William County, the City of Manassas, and Manassas Park.
Our Programs
Emergency Shelter (NVFS Family Shelter)
The NVFS Family Shelter in Manassas provides safe, emergency shelter for individuals and families in Prince William County, City of Manassas, and Manassas Park.
Shelter guests work with a case manager to develop a long-term housing stability plan. Through the shelter, they're also connected to support services including employment readiness, financial literacy, and early childhood education.

Rent & Utility Assistance
Emergency rental and utility assistance for Prince William Area residents at risk of eviction or utility disconnection. Prevention services help families stabilize their housing situation before a crisis worsens.

Rapid Re-Housing (RRH)
Short-term rental assistance and intensive case management to help individuals and families exit homelessness and return to stable housing as quickly as possible. RRH participants work closely with a case manager on a plan toward self-sufficiency and long-term housing stability.
RRH is only available to current NVFS Family Shelter residents and individuals assigned to NVFS through the by-names list.
Housing Location
Dedicated support finding and securing permanent housing — including landlord outreach, application assistance, and housing navigation. Housing Location staff work alongside families to identify suitable, affordable options and successfully transition to permanent housing.
Housing Location services are only available to current NVFS Family Shelter residents and individuals assigned to NVFS through the by-names list.
